    807-8A drivers

I found a pair of 807-8a drivers on Craigslist and bought them and pair of horns for $200. I've tried them and they do not compare to my GPA drivers. No surprise there.

Can I improve them with new diaphragms? Remove the safety cap and add some felt to the rear cover?

They sound rolled off and a bit rough. I'm using these over a pair of 416z woofers with a Model 19 xover. Hifi and Home Theater use. Smallish room, 10 feet between me and them.

    thanks for any input.

The Symbiotik has less highs and the cap adds to this, there are several threads on this here.

Essentially those mods turn it into an 806. Still not as nice as an 802 but quite decent.

Symbiotiks will sell on FeePay so you can recover some cash.

If I'm gonna mod I usually buy blown ones, as they are cheaper.

The hot trick is to buy a set of blown up MI cabs.

418's become 416's and 807's morph into 806's. You can even recap the MI crossovers with good caps, they sound decent.

Build a nice set of boxes...presto- expensive set of Altecs on the cheap.
